The predicted activation date has already passed. 3I/ATLAS is now confirmed, through a peer-reviewed study published in Nature in June 2026 and a dedicated SETI search that found zero radio technosignatures, to be an ordinary ancient comet, 10 to 12 billion years old, now retreating past Jupiter on its way out of the solar system for good.
No mechanism beneath Giza activated at the end of January. This is one of the rare cases where a specific, dated prediction can simply be checked against what actually happened.
What 3I/ATLAS Actually Is
The object itself is genuinely remarkable, no embellishment required. Discovered July 1, 2025, by the NASA-funded ATLAS survey telescope in Chile, it was quickly established as only the third interstellar object ever detected passing through our solar system, after ‘Oumuamua in 2017 and Borisov in 2019. It reached perihelion in late October 2025, never came closer to Earth than about 270 million kilometers, and posed no danger at any point. James Webb Space Telescope observations detected methane in its coma in December 2025, and by June 2026, a team led by Martin Cordiner at NASA Goddard had published a peer-reviewed analysis in Nature dating the comet’s ice to somewhere between 10 and 12 billion years old, older than the solar system itself, a genuinely rare sample of material from another star system entirely. As of late July 2026, it’s tracked well beyond Jupiter, fading in brightness, on a hyperbolic trajectory that will carry it out of the solar system permanently. A dedicated SETI search conducted during its passage found no radio signals of any kind.
What Avi Loeb Actually Said
Loeb is a real Harvard astrophysicist, and his interest in 3I/ATLAS is real and on the public record, but his actual position was consistently hedged, not the confident assertion it’s often presented as. He assigned roughly a 40 percent probability to the object being technological in origin, called for more data repeatedly, and framed his most provocative language, “mothership,” “Trojan horse,” in explicitly speculative terms: “let us suppose, hypothetically.” His specific published anomalies centered on trajectory details, nickel abundance relative to iron, and jet geometry, points that astronomers including Jason Wright at Penn State and Mark Norris at the University of Lancashire addressed directly and, in the view of most of the field, adequately within ordinary cometary physics. Loeb himself never claimed certainty. The specific claim that he identified dark bars in amateur images as probes deploying at 500 meters per second doesn’t appear anywhere in his own public writing, blog posts, or interviews. It isn’t something he’s on record saying.
“Steve Jones” Doesn’t Trace to Anyone
Searching for a self-described medium named Steve Jones claiming decade-old channeled knowledge of a Martian-Atlantean pyramid-activation network turns up no original source, no prior report, no biography, and no independent citation anywhere. What does exist is a genuinely active online ecosystem of pseudonymous writers speculating about 3I/ATLAS and the pyramids, tetrahedral jet geometry theories, pyramid-angle alignment claims tied to specific Medium bloggers, and a completely separate doomsday prophet, Gordon-Michael Scallion, whose decades-old prediction of a “blue and white” cosmic flash got retroactively connected to the comet by a TikTok creator months after the fact. None of these real threads involve anyone named Steve Jones, and none of them produced the specific, falsifiable December-arrival, January-activation timeline attributed to him here. That timeline appears to have no identifiable source at all.
A Prediction With an Expiration Date
What makes this case unusually clean is that it doesn’t require philosophical argument to resolve. The claim specified a positioning phase in December 2025 and an activation event at the end of January 2026. Both dates have passed. 3I/ATLAS did not stop, loiter near Earth, or approach Giza, it followed precisely the hyperbolic trajectory Newtonian mechanics predicted from the outset, continuing past Jupiter and on toward interstellar space. No pyramid activated. This is worth sitting with as a general pattern: specific, dated supernatural predictions are unusual precisely because they’re actually falsifiable, and when the date arrives and passes without incident, that’s not an inconvenient detail to explain away. It’s the answer.
Where the Real Wonder Actually Sits
The established facts about 3I/ATLAS don’t need a pyramid to stay remarkable. A piece of material that formed around another star roughly 10 to 12 billion years ago, drifted through interstellar space for the entire history of complex life on Earth, and passed close enough for our telescopes to study its chemistry directly, is already one of the more extraordinary things astronomy has documented in the past decade. Loeb’s hedged speculation about its origin is part of a legitimate, if contested, scientific conversation. An untraceable medium’s specific, testable prophecy isn’t part of that conversation, and its January deadline has already come and gone with nothing to show for it.
