“Is it an asteroid?” Nigerians question the strange explosion in Akure
In early March, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that an asteroid will fly over Earth. This asteroid was called large and potentially dangerous.
The asteroid named 2012 XA133 was slated to pass Earth on Thursday, March 26. [27 de marzo en Nigeria] at a speed of 53,000 mph. However, with a guarantee note, NASA said Earth will not be affected.
“As they orbit the Sun, NEOs [Near Earth Object] they may occasionally get close to Earth.
“Note that an astronomically ‘close’ passage may be very far in human terms: millions or even tens of millions of kilometers.”
However, Nigerians located in Akure remained vigilant in the early hours of this morning after a loud noise was heard in Akure that shook the entire village, destroying some buildings located in the village’s Eleyowo community. Eleyowo, located one kilometer from the Akure airport, saw a large number of buildings, including churches and a school, affected by the blast.
Amid speculation about what the noise is, some have reported that it was a truck carrying explosives that exploded, while others have raised questions about the asteroid.
Was it an asteroid? Was it an explosion? Different questions have been asked and here are some reactions:
