Roger Stone, a former adviser to US President Donald Trump, suggested on Monday that Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, could be behind the creation of the coronavirus, in an attempt to implant microchips in people with the excuse of knowing who has been tested for COVID-19 and who has not.
“If Bill Gates played any role in the creation and spread of this virus, it is a subject open to vigorous debate. I have conservative friends who say it’s ridiculous and others who say it’s not at all,” Stone said on the radio show. The Answer, from 970 AM, when asked about conspiracy theories regarding the pandemic.
Stone, a political consultant and lobbyist, suggested that the billionaire “and other globalists” are using the virus to promote “mandatory vaccines and implantation of microchips in people, so that we know if they have been subjected to tests ”, the New York Post writes. “Over my dead body. Mandatory vaccinations? No way! ”Said the former presidential adviser, sentenced in February to 40 months in prison for lying to Congress and for manipulating witnesses. Roger Stone offered no argument in support of his statements about the philanthropist.
A conspiracy theory – which at the moment has no basis – regarding the Microsoft co-founder and a possible vaccine against the new coronavirus has been circulating in recent weeks on social media platforms, and has been shared, among others, by a presenter of Fox News and by a correspondent of Newsmax.
Bill Gates’ response
In a recent virtual interview with CCTV Gates claimed, on the theories linking him to the creation of the coronavirus, that it is ironic that they point to someone who is doing everything possible to prepare the world and investing billions of dollars to fight infectious diseases. “We are in a crazy situation, so there will be crazy rumors,” said the philanthropist, adding that while there are many attacks, in general, “people have been very positive.”
Gates and his foundation have been warning of such an epidemic for years, and lately he has led and funded efforts to find a vaccine. In a recent interview with the BBC, the magnate criticized the insufficient preparation that the governments showed before a global pandemic. Thus, he asserted that “very few countries will obtain an ‘A’ rating for this fight”, and warned that now “we are in unexplored territories.”
Gates argues that had adequate preparations been put in place, treatment for the disease would have been available in four months, diagnoses in one month, and the vaccine in less than a year. Currently, he says, that vaccine is unlikely to arrive in 18 months.
