Jeff Bezos’ Doomsday Clock is almost done

In the past 10 to 15 years, many people have begun to notice all sorts of oddities that occur over time.

Objectively, time flows as it always has: it is still 24 hours a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute and so on. However, subjectively, it seems to many people that the day has gotten shorter and time is flowing more quickly.

According to some general estimates, today the day lasts about 12 to 18 hours and time continues to accelerate, but, as we are sailing within this period, there is no specific opportunity to record the metamorphoses that occur with it. Unless, of course, there are some loopholes.

So, for example, reports come out of Mount Athos, in Greece, that monks have problems with reciting prayers and lighting lamps. According to their daily routine, monks should read a number of prayers a day – this has been done for centuries. But now they don’t have time to read all the prayers. A similar story occurs with lamps: they generally have a strictly defined burning time; some burn for up to an entire year, or better, they should burn, because now the oil does not burn in a year or needs to be added.

Nobody knows how to explain this, but the gap left by nature is obvious: to perceive any fluctuations in the structure of space-time, the clock must not be electronic, nor atomic, but built in the old way – in some chemicals or mechanical principles. For example, one could make huge chimes on a tower, where the gears have a large mass and are therefore less susceptible to deformations than continuum Space time. But putting these chimes not in the square, but pushing them somewhere underground, so that less neutrinos get close, and be closer to the rock, which also has a huge local mass.

This whole exceptionally expensive undertaking is absurd. However, according to the edition of Popular Mechanics of April 27 this year, Jeff Bezos, founder and head of the Internet company Amazon.com, founder and owner of the aerospace company Blue Origin, owner of the publisher of Washington Post and a fortune of 150 billion dollars (according to the most conservative estimates) he suddenly decided to start this project. About this, the project website says the following:

We are building a 10,000-year-old clock. This is a special watch designed to become a symbol, an icon for long-term thinking. This is a monumental scale building within a mountain in western Texas. The father of the watch, Danny Hillis, thinks about watches and has worked with them since 1989. He wanted to create a watch that works once a year, where the hand of the century moves once every 100 years and the cuckoo appears once a year. every millennium.

The idea was to create a clock that would save time for the next 10,000 years. I’ve been helping Danny on the project for the past six years. In my opinion, people are now technologically advanced so that we can create not only extraordinary miracles, but also things on the scale of civilization. We will probably need more thoughts in the long run.

The installation started – 500 feet (152 m) high, all mechanical, powered by day / night thermal cycles, synchronized with solar noon, a symbol for long-term thinking – the # 10000YearClock is being assembled thanks to geniuses Danny Hillis, Zander Rose and the entire Watch team! Enjoy the video.

The project, as can be seen in the video and in the description, is huge, comparable to the construction of a government anti-nuclear shelter. That is, somewhere inside the mountain a mechanical clock is being built, next to which Big Ben will be like a pocket watch, and the bells in Makkah’s Royal Clock Tower will be like an alarm clock. And all this, to show and earn money from tourists who will pay for the project somewhere in two or three thousand years?

And now the question arises: Is Jeff Bezos some kind of nut? It is very unlikely. For him, now there is a fight for the environment, the fight against AIDS, helping the hungry in Africa – whatever you want, then choose … So, the construction of watches is nothing like an exhibition. Most importantly, some really crazy inventors have been around with the idea of watches for almost 40 years, wandering around the offices of possible sponsors like Moses in the desert. Danny Hillis, the father of the whole project, so to speak, is he crazy too?

This is also very unlikely to be believed. Instead, we are talking about serious people who have really been interested in miracles over time and have invested huge amounts of money in the project. Building a clock that counts time until the end of the world.

According to eschatological verses, there will be an acceleration of time before this world turns to dust.

The time for judgment will not come until the time is shortened. A year will be like a month, a month will be like a week, a week will be like a day, a day will be like an hour and an hour will be like a smoking time.

Verse of the Koran.

But how do you understand that the time for Judgment Day has come? You can understand this only by building a special clock that can record the acceleration of time: once the clock started to be built, time may be close.
