The letter has never been found.
In 1958, Canadian author William Guy Carr reproduced a letter in his book Pawns in the Game that he attributed to Albert Pike, the real Confederate general and Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite’s Southern Jurisdiction, addressed to Italian nationalist Giuseppe Mazzini and dated August 15, 1871. The letter describes three coming world wars, engineered in advance toward the installation of a new global order. This piece exists to correct a claim that gets repeated constantly without anyone checking whether the underlying document exists, because it doesn’t, and because the specific content attributed to Pike deserves to be named plainly for what it is rather than treated as a live historical mystery.
Why the Letter Doesn’t Hold Up
No original of this letter has ever been located in any archive, library, or private collection, including the British Museum, which Carr’s own account claimed held it. Researchers who have specifically searched for it, including Masonic historians with direct institutional access to the Scottish Rite’s own archives, have found no trace of it predating Carr’s 1958 book. There is no chain of custody, no earlier citation, no independent 19th or early 20th century reference to its existence. Every version of this claim traces back to one uncorroborated source.
The content itself deserves to be named directly rather than paraphrased around. The letter’s account of the second war explicitly frames Nazism and the Holocaust as instruments deliberately fomented to advance the interests of what it calls “political Zionism,” part of a hidden plan attributed to a secret Jewish-associated conspiracy engineering world events from behind the scenes. This is not an obscure detail. It is a close variant of the same conspiracy framework found in the forged early-20th-century document known as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a text with a well-documented history of fueling real antisemitic violence. Presenting the Pike letter as possibly genuine, or as a mystery whose “third war” is now unfolding, means presenting that framework as a live possibility rather than what it actually is: a fabricated document built on a genuinely dangerous and thoroughly discredited conspiracy tradition. This piece will not do that.
The apparent predictive accuracy of the first two “wars” is also considerably weaker than it looks at first read. Vague, retroactively-fitted prophecy is a well-documented genre: broad claims about future conflict and revolution, written or rewritten with the benefit of hindsight, will always appear to match major 20th-century events because those events are exactly the kind of large, memorable history a retrofitted prophecy gets built around. This pattern does not require a genuine 1871 prediction. It requires a mid-20th-century author working backward from history that had already happened.
What Actually Happened With Executive Order 11110
The claim that Kennedy’s Executive Order 11110 represented a bold challenge to the Federal Reserve, and that his assassination followed as a consequence, needs a direct correction as well. Executive Order 11110, signed in June 1963, was a narrow, technical amendment delegating existing Treasury authority to issue silver certificates, authority that had already existed under earlier legislation and had already been used by prior administrations. It was not a revolutionary monetary policy shift, and it was not suppressed after Kennedy’s death: the Treasury continued issuing silver certificates under the authority it provided into the mid-1960s, only phasing them out as part of the broader, publicly announced transition away from the silver standard that Congress had already set in motion. There is no credible evidence connecting this order to Kennedy’s assassination.
The 33rd Parallel Itself
Many of the world’s major historical and political centers do sit near the 33rd parallel, Baghdad, Damascus, Kabul, and parts of the American South among them, and this deserves the mundane explanation it actually has: the 33rd parallel passes through some of the most densely populated, historically significant latitude bands on Earth, including the fertile crescent, simply because human civilization concentrated heavily in these climate zones for entirely ordinary agricultural and geographic reasons that have nothing to do with numerology. A line of latitude that happens to cross a region where several ancient civilizations independently arose, and where the modern world’s population and conflict are also concentrated, is not a coincidence requiring a hidden explanation. It is what population density maps look like.
The Underground Facilities Are Real, and Ordinary
Separately from the hoax material above, private survival infrastructure for wealthy individuals is real and publicly documented. The Oppidum in the Czech Republic, the Survival Condo Project in a converted Kansas missile silo, and Robert Vicino’s Vivos shelter network all exist and are openly marketed, and Peter Thiel’s New Zealand property holdings are a matter of public record. These are genuinely worth reporting on as a real phenomenon, wealthy individuals hedging against pandemic, climate, and geopolitical risk is a documented trend covered by mainstream outlets. It does not require, or benefit from, being tied to a fabricated 19th-century letter to be interesting on its own terms.
