Long Story Short
Don’t know exactly where you are when you call 911? No worries.
Whether you’ve fallen off your bike or you’re hiding from the underpants gnomes (heaven forbid) and need to call 911, emergency services will be more capable of finding you quickly when the new iOS 12 update hits your iPhone.
The feature will allow first responders to pinpoint your exact your location if you call from your phone, Mashable reports.
“When every moment counts, these tools will help first responders reach our customers when they most need assistance,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.
The new iOS will launch at some point this year following the release of several new phones, including the largest iPhone ever produced. We already know some of the other features on iOS 12 from watching Apple’s WWDC, but highlights include a way to limit and track your phone usage, group FaceTime, a smarter Siri and memojis. This feature will be a welcome upgrade, but there isn’t really much in here that’ll have you itching for the new iOS to drop.
Oh, and if you’ve still got an iPhone 5S (hey mom), no worries. iOS 12 will be available for users of the iPhone 5S all the way up to the iPhone X.
