In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, the mask has become the complement of the season. Sold out in all establishments, they help to stop the virus from spreading. A simple instrument, to which the Chinese company Xiaomi has given a spin.
The phone company has developed an electronic mask. It’s called Xiaomi Youpin Q5S Electric Anti Haze Sterilizing Mask, and it’s specially designed to combat the pollution and haze that forms in many Chinese cities during fall and winter. However, beyond pollution particles, this mask of the future can protect us from highly carcinogenic formaldehyde, dust, pollen, tobacco smoke, certain sources of allergies, animal hair, the gases emitted by vehicles, particles up to 0.3 microns in size and germs.
This is achieved through a dynamic filter that permanently cleans the air we breathe. A quadruple filter system that has two speeds is in charge of eliminating impurities, whose purification efficiency would touch 95% according to the manufacturer.
The Xiaomi Youpin Q5S Electric Anti Haze Sterilizing Mask is built with a cotton plastic shell, although the inner part is made of silicone, which gives it comfort and allows it to adapt to the shape of the face. In addition, it has a USB port on one of the sides to be able to recharge its battery, which offers between 4 and 6 hours of autonomy.
Intended for the industrial field, it is not proven to protect against coronavirus, but, like other masks, it would stop an infected person from infecting others. In this way, it would help to reduce the contagion curve that, these days, is exploding throughout the European continent.
This product has already gone on sale in some online stores and is included within Xiaomi Mijia, a sub-brand of the eastern multinational that includes household products such as razors, vacuum cleaners or smart mirrors.
