In folklore, a mermaid is an aquatic creature with a human’s head and upper body and a fish-like tail. These ‘mythical’ creatures are mentioned in countless ancient cultures around the world, especially in the Near East, Europe, Africa and Asia.
A weird video has taken the internet by storm — again. A video posted on 2010 has reappeared on the internet, pushing believers and skeptics in a heated debate around a video allegedly shot at the Great Barrier Reef.
The video shows a mysterious creature — a mermaid swimming in the distance.
Some praise it as the best mermaid footage ever, while others say it’s probably just someone swimming in a suit, doing their best to produce a high-quality video that can go viral on the web.
So what is it? Is it a mermaid?
The video, uploaded to YouTube by Marginal Media, has stacked more than 2,700,000 views. (There’s another one, also posted below, that has over 4 million views.)
The narrator of the video explains how he went to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia to try a cage submarine which he recently bought.
Two movies were filmed, explains the narrator. The video on the left was his first attempt. The narrator explains that since he was testing his camera, and how it operates, he felt something “behind” him.
It is further stated that he only saw the siren ’after having seen the images on the computer.
The man who filmed the video is claimed to be real. Not Edited. Not faked.
The Mystery Of The Mermaid
Some users say it is the best evidence that mermaids are real:
“I think it is. Mermaid does not use her arms to swim, and the tail flex is smooth and fluid. Also, how fast is it moving. However, I think it is probably better that humans do not know about them. They are only going to be chased and exploited”
Others have maintained a more skeptical stance saying that the video proves nothing.
However, that doesn’t keep people from watching this video as the latest evidence that mermaids are real.
And who can blame them, right? After all, many people still believe that Santa and the Tooth Fairy are real.
But on a more serious note, think about this:
Millions of people around the world firmly believe that God created the world in seven days. Furthermore, millions more people are convinced of how the first humans on Earth where Adam and Eve. Creationists are convinced that God created the world approximately 6,000 years ago, and that Noah’s Flood was approximately 4,400 years ago.
However, there is ample evidence to suggest that modern humans have walked Earth for more than 300,000 years.
Evidence that early human beings date back even further.
So despite solid scientific evidence to show that humans have been around for a long time, millions of people are convinced that God created humanity about 6,000 years ago.
My point here is not to say that mermaids are real. And I am not discussing religion and creation.
I just want to show how people believe in things despite ample evidence to the contrary.
People also believe in things they have never seen before.
I guess its only human nature.
For me personally, the footage is amazing.
Why?
Because I am someone that I will not say it is not real just because many others believe that it is not.
I am not saying that I do believe in mermaids, nor am I saying that I believe the footage is the latest evidence of anything.
I am saying that I can find the video of peculiar interest.
