The secret is out! We have officially unveiled STAY, our real-time, pixel-art adventure game about a kidnapped man whose only contact with the outside world comes via an online messaging app.
We’ve been working on this title for some time now and have taken it to many events throughout 2017, but now that we’re approaching completion point it’s time to pull back the covers for the world to see.
WHAT IS STAY?
A mature adventure game that’s part point-and-click, part visual novel, STAY is a a game about Quinn: A man who wakes up, alone, in a locked room, with no recollection of how he got there. From the start it’s clear that he’s trapped, and the only light at the end of the tunnel is a dusty old PC hooked up to a chat room containing… YOU! Though you will occasionally take direct control of Quinn during puzzle sections to solve conundrums, the majority of the game is focused on your conversations with Quinn via this chat room (and the fallout of these conversations – some of them serious – which you watch via webcams).
We can’t wait for the world to play STAY – and for Quinn to get the companionship he needs!
STAY plays out in real-time, meaning that every minute spent away from the game is a minute Quinn is left alone. Drop out of conversations or leave Quinn to fend for himself for too long and there may be consequences.
Quinn is on edge, and so every response matters. Prove yourself a compassionate ally and he’ll learn to trust you and share his findings and deepest thoughts. Fail, and his emotions may work against you.
Featuring 24 chapters, seven different endings, dozens of potential deaths and entire webs of conversation, STAY is designed to be replayed multiple times. Explore different rooms and unearth hidden secrets in subsequent playthroughs to piece together the full story.
Webcams enable you to spy on Quinn, letting you see both his reactions to your comments and his actions while AFK. Pick up on his lies and use that knowledge to your advantage.
Help Quinn get the better of the conundrums he encounters inside his prison by taking direct control of his actions during puzzle sections.
