John Lennon’ S UFO Encounter

On the 23rd of August 1974, John Lennon witnessed a UFO from his New York apparent balcony with his girlfriend of the time May Pang.

In 1980, he released a song called Nobody Told Me with the following lyrics:

Everybody’s smoking and no one’s getting high
Everybody’s flying and never touch the sky
There’s a UFO over New York and I ain’t too surprised
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Nobody told me there’d be days like these
Strange days indeed — most peculiar, mama, roll!

The song was recorded in 1980 (released in ’84). On the 8th of December 1980, Lennon was shot dead by Mark David Chapman.

Given the influence John Lennon held over millions of people, is it at all likely that he was silenced because of fears of him openly talking about his UFO experience and the effect on so many people?
