You may be surprised to know that this 2020 has come loaded with astronomical events, as it is, and yes it is surprising. This Tuesday, April 7, we can enjoy the Rose Super moon, the largest full moon of 2020, worldwide and from your window!
Next week, the skies around the world will be adorned with a beautiful full moon which will be a Super moon called ‘rose’, due to the pink flowers that appear during April.
This moon will be much brighter and much larger than normal, and will indeed be the brightest of the three supermoons in 2020.
Although the confinement or quarantine do not allow us to fully enjoy this type of cosmic shows, those who have a view from their window or from their roof will be able to witness the beautiful and big moon in the sky.
It will be possible to observe the supermoon in all its splendor when it is located exactly 180 degrees opposite the Sun, in ecliptic length, that is, when the Moon-Sun elongation is equal to 180 degrees.
The full moon instant will arrive on April 8 at 2:35 UTC. At time zones in the U.S., the moon will turn precisely full on the evening of April 7 at 10:35 p.m. EDT, 9:35 p.m. CDT, 8:35 p.m. MDT, 7:35 p.m. PDT, 6:35 p.m Alaskan Time and 4:35 p.m. Hawaiian Time. Translate UTC to your time.
And the Moon will bring a companion. Next to it will be the star Spica, the brightest in the constellation Virgo. The Full Moon in April will be the first of three full moons to occur between the March equinox and the June solstice.
